Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I include sponsors or branding?

Yes. All paid plans can include sponsor branding on the map. The Explorer and Champion plans let you upload custom icons for sponsor locations.

  • What about mobile performance?

Every map from Amigomap is optimized for mobile — fast, responsive, and intuitive. No extra app required; it opens right in the browser.

  • What can I try during the free trial?

The trial lets you test the core map-making and publishing workflow, with reasonable limits on public traffic, storage, publishing and higher-tier features to prevent abuse.

  • What happens after my 7-day free trial ends?

Your maps and work are not deleted, but access and viewing will be paused when the trial period ends. To continue, sign in as an admin and start a paid plan from Manage Organization > Plan + Usage.

  • How do I upgrade to a paid plan after the free trial?

Sign in as an admin, click Manage Organization > Plan + Usage, click Select plan + start now, choose a plan, and complete checkout. After payment, reopen or refresh Plan + Usage to see your updated plan, live validity period and map-views (traffic) allowance.

  • Can I cancel the free trial?

Yes. There is no credit card required for the trial, so there is no paid subscription to cancel during the trial. You can simply stop using Amigomap. If you want your trial workspace or data removed, contact us.

  • What is the live period?

Your live period is the active time window for your plan. During this period, you can create, edit and publish maps, and your published maps can be viewed by your audience. The live period is one of the main differences between plans: Starter is 45 days, Explorer is 180 days, and Champion is 360 days. If the live period ends, your saved work is not automatically deleted, but active use and published viewing may be paused until you extend, renew, or start a new plan period.

  • Will my maps be deleted if my live period ends?

No, your saved maps, images, and settings are not immediately deleted. Active editing, publishing and audience viewing will be paused until you extend the live period or start a new plan period. If there is no live paid plan, stored data may eventually be deleted.

  • Can I extend the live period?

Yes. Paid plans can be extended in 30-day blocks. Extension pricing depends on your current plan: Starter $149, Explorer $199, and Champion $299 per 30-day block. An extension adds time to your current live period only; it does not add extra map views. If your live period has already ended, the extension starts from today. Any remaining map-view allowance continues during the extended period, but if your map-view allowance has already been used up, you may also need to add extra views. Alternatively, you can start a new plan.

  • What counts as a map view?

A map view is counted when a published map successfully opens and loads its map data.

  • What happens if I top-up map views but don't use them?

Top-ups apply to your current live period. If you extend that same live period, your remaining top-up map views continue during the extended period. If you start a new plan instead, usage resets to the new plan’s included map views and unused top-up views do not carry over.

  • What does fair use mean?

Fair use means Amigomap is built for normal event, race and community-map use. You can create multiple maps within your live period, but included map-view allowances, media/storage safeguards and abuse controls still apply. If your event is expected to generate very high traffic, unusually heavy fan-photo use or special operational requirements, contact us so we can help you choose the right plan or a custom setup.

  • Can I control who sees my map?

Yes, depending on your plan. Starter plan maps are public and easy to share by link. Explorer and Champion plans allow (public) maps to be embedded on your website. With these plans you can publish publicly (so anyone can view) or privately (restricted to your organization only, or restricted to selected colleagues or guests). Selected-user access is great for internal previews or sponsor access, and requires the person to be/become a user in your organization.

  • What does embedding a map on my website mean?

It means you can display a public Amigomap map directly on your own website. We provide an HTML snippet that you add to your web page. The snippet creates an iframe that displays the map inside your page.

  • Can I embed a private map on my website?

No. Website embeds are for public maps only. Private (organization-only and selected-user) maps are viewed through Amigomap’s authenticated viewing routes and so cannot be embedded.

  • What is embedding with domain verification?

Domain verification means your public map can only be embedded on websites you have approved. This helps prevent someone from displaying your map on an unrelated website. Domain-verified embedding is available on Champion and custom plans.

  • How do I publish a map?

After creating and saving your map, you click Publish and choose who can view it. You can put a link to the map on your website, or, on eligible plans, you can embed a public map in your own web page using a few lines of code that we provide.

  • Do I need an expert in mapping software or GIS?

Not at all. Amigomap is built for non-technical creators who want exciting plug-and-play features and maximum design flexibility. Polished standard icons are included. For custom icons, you can upload your own artwork or use a designer if you want a fully branded look.

  • What makes Amigomap different from navigation apps like Google Maps, Waze, or Apple Maps?

Amigomap is designed for custom branding and fan engagement, with marketing-ready tools like flyovers, time sliders, fan photos, comments and sponsor visibility. For turn-by-turn directions, fans can open their preferred navigation app from inside the map.

  • What makes Amigomap different from Strava?

Strava is great for recording personal routes and times, but Amigomap is designed for race directors who want to generate fan engagement and excitement using the race map and its story-telling features. You can upload GPX routes recorded in Strava into Amigomap if you wish.

  • Who is Mapbox?

Mapbox is a software company that provides the beautiful map styles and coding APIs on which Amigomap is built.

  • What happens if my event goes viral?

We monitor map-view usage and notify you when your allowance runs low. You can add extra map views or move to a higher plan. Amigomap also has safeguards against unusual automated or abusive traffic. For major events where very high traffic is expected, contact us in advance so we can plan capacity and pricing with you.

  • Can I use Amigomap for road closures or municipal events?

Yes. We offer annual custom civic plans for road closures, parades, festivals and public information maps.

  • Can I move to a longer live period later?

Yes. You can either extend your current paid plan in 30-day blocks, or start a higher plan with a longer live period and a larger included map-view allowance. Starting a new plan period resets usage to the new plan’s included allowance, while extending the current live period keeps any remaining map-view allowance in place.

  • How do I downgrade my plan?

Downgrades are handled manually to help prevent accidental loss of access to team members or private maps. If you want to move to a lower plan, contact Amigomap support before your next renewal. We will help you check whether your current organization users and map access settings fit the lower plan. Existing maps and account data are not automatically deleted when you request a downgrade, but new over-limit team or private-publishing actions may be blocked until your account fits the lower plan or you upgrade again.

  • What is an organization user?

An organization user is someone signed up with Amigomap and attached to your organization, with a role of admin, creator, viewer, or guest. Public spectators who simply view a public map do not count as organization users.

  • What does selected-user publishing mean?

Selected-user publishing restricts a private map to specific invited colleagues or guests. Guests must be invited to sign up by your organization's admin.

  • Can you invite team members on the Starter plan?

No. Starter includes 1 organization user. To invite team members or guests, upgrade to a higher plan.
